Welcome, I am Felix.
Felix is a male-given name that stems from Latin and means “happy” or “lucky”.
withFelix is a personal project I started during the first lockdown in 2020 - when the world, and especially our hospitality industry, seemed to be holding its breath. Amid the uncertainty, I felt a strong urge to share something positive. So I began interviewing passionate hoteliers and tourism professionals to shine a light on the people behind the places, and the stories that make this industry so special.
I have worked in luxury hospitality for over a decade, with a strong focus on commercial strategy - across the Netherlands (Leeuwarden), Africa (Djibouti), China (Yinchuan), Germany, the UK (London), and now the Middle East (Doha). While my expertise is rooted in sales, marketing, and revenue, my curiosity has always extended far beyond KPIs. I have a deep passion for the entire industry - from front-of-house to back-of-house, from culinary artistry (well, mainly eating good food) to leadership development.
Since launching withFelix, I have interviewed nearly 50 inspiring professionals - from Managing Directors to rising talents - each with their own unique story, but all united by their passion for hospitality.
But this project is about more than interviews. At its core, withFelix is about connection. I often find myself saying, “You have to meet someone I just spoke with…” and that simple introduction often leads to something meaningful. It is my way of bringing people together - because connecting others makes me happy.
Today, the project continues to grow. I am working on a monthly newsletter (It’s on the House – withFelix), a curated Spotify playlist (Room Service Radio), and a broader focus on leadership, mentoring, and what’s next for our industry.
